Instructor Trainer Klaus Simonsen will share over six years of extensive experience as a freediving and spearfishing instructor, having taught and coached more than 500 students. Our instructor courses go beyond standard materials, equipping you to professionally guide future students through training and coaching. You’ll gain the skills to become a true coach.

Overview

Classroom sessions explore a wide range of topics, including teaching methods, effective communication, risk management, planning, marketing, and budgeting. Additionally, they provide comprehensive outlines and in-depth discussions of all freediving skills and techniques. Through daily presentations and teaching practice, you’ll develop a professional routine and gain confidence using the AIDA materials.

Water sessions focus on mastering the setup for freediving, meeting performance standards, and practicing teaching techniques and skill demonstrations. Various in-water scenarios will prepare you to guide students safely and professionally.

Performance requirements

CWT dive to 40-50m , FIM dive to 40-50m, Long CWT 30m dive min 1:30min, Long FIM 30m dive min 2:00min, Deep rescue (25m) followed by 50m surface transport of ‘unconscious’ diver, Hang at 15m for up to 1 minute with rescue, Stamina test 5 x 20m CWT dive with 1min surface interval, CNF dive to 20m, Min 4min STA, 50m CNF, 90m DYN

Becoming a certified Instructor

Upon passing the course, you’ll be certified as an AIDA Freediving Instructor. This qualification allows you to teach AIDA 1, AIDA 2, and AIDA 3 courses. With access to all teaching materials online and no requirement to be affiliated with a physical dive center, you’ll have the freedom to teach freediving from anywhere in the world.

Three Different Course Options

7 Days In Dahab + Online Theory

Details
For those who currently do not have the opportunity to take a 14-day holiday, we have created this option. You will receive the same amount of teaching as in the 12-14 day instructor course. Here, we review everything we can online before you arrive in Dahab. The timeframe for online theory sessions is flexible and can be adapted to your schedule.
You will have the best conditions to pass the course if you know you can meet all the performance requirements (skills) before you arrive.

12-14 Days In Dahab

Details
We go beyond simply meeting requirements, honing your presence in the water—from perfecting your technical diving skills to confidently leading students through teaching sessions. With a daily schedule from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a maximum of three diving days in a row, you’ll have ample time to reflect on each topic, prepare, study, and rest between sessions.

In addition to teaching AIDA courses, we emphasize providing technical training and coaching between courses, highlighting the value of structured training at every level of freediving. A comfortable, supportive, and peaceful environment ensures an optimal learning experience.

Internship 2-3 months

Details
This is the best option for those who have the time required. You will have the opportunity to assist our experienced instructor during training, as well as during AIDA courses, coaching, and equalization workshops.
You will gain extensive experience by interacting with many freedivers of all levels and exchanging knowledge and ideas with our students, instructors, and freediving friends. You will help with safety during coaching sessions and courses to maximize your experience at competitive and high-level freediving. Once both you and your instructor agree that you are ready for the next step, you will enter the next instructor course available. We have a 100% passing rate for internships, as you will be able to re-take exams and requirements later if they are not completed during your instructor course. Because of this flexible system, you have plenty of time to practice your weak points until you are ready for the next evaluation.
Sometimes, there will also be opportunities for PR work, such as photoshoots and social media posts. You will gain insights into all aspects of becoming a successful freediving instructor in a competitive market and learn how to train like a freediving athlete.

Prerequisites
You must be a certified AIDA 4 Freediver (or equivalent). If you are an AIDA 3 Freediver but have not taken an AIDA 4 course, you can take our AIDA 4 Prolonged course for 495 Euro. It is also possible to do a crossover from other freediving agencies.
